Double Bookshelf Julia

A nine-compartment bookshelf from the Julia range. Eight open cubes in a three-by-three grid minus one, plus a ninth compartment with a hinged door.

Each cube is 42 cm wide, 29 cm tall, and 33.5 cm deep — sized for picture books standing up with room for a soft toy or a small bin on top, not so deep that a book disappears into the back. The closed compartment hides the things a room needs but nobody wants to see: spare batteries, tape, the box of felt-tip pens that leak.

The door runs on a soft-close hinge — push it and it slows on the last centimetre before closing, so fingers don't catch and the shelf doesn't announce itself every time a child shuts it. Push-to-open from the outside, which means no handle.

18 mm E1-class laminated chipboard. Eco paint, EN 71-3 compliant. Rounded edges throughout.
