Montessori Toy Shelf Maxi

An open-front toy shelf sized for a child to see and reach everything it holds. The shelf measures 81 cm wide, 66 cm tall, and 42 cm deep — low enough that a standing toddler can see the top surface, and deep enough that a basket of blocks or a wooden train set fits without spilling over the edge.

The open front is the principle behind it. Montessori-informed shelving presents a small, curated selection of toys at a child's eye level so the child can choose independently, play, and return the toy to its place without help. The Maxi's proportions hold roughly eight to ten baskets or trays across two shelves, which is the working number for a child between one and four.

Construction is solid birch, FSC-certified. The corners are rounded on every exposed edge — a detail that matters when a child's forehead meets furniture at a run. The finish is smooth enough to wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Three finishes: natural birch, white, and muted sage. The same palette as the One Little Pine tower, so the two pieces sit together in a shared room without competing.

Handmade in Lithuania by One Little Pine; 1–3 weeks lead time. Each piece is built to order, sanded, and finished by hand before it ships.
